A Pretty Full Goddamned Weekend

So the holiday party was lame. Lame as can be. With the light and easy jazz Christmas carol loop and the uninspired cuisine and the no hard liquor. NO FUCKING LIQUOR!. I could have gone on a holiday-themed rampage! So I obviously avoided introducing the girl to select loathed collegues. She commented that I work with as many losers as she does. Long story short... it blew. But the dioramas at the Chicago Historical Society were cool. Then we thought of somewhere to go, this being about 9:00pm......

We met Ron Jeremy. We ended up at the Landmark Century Theatre, behind about 50 people, ahead of maybe 200 others, all waiting to view the documentary "Porn Star" - the troubled tale of a fat, hairy, well-endowed pornographic film superstar from Queens. It was edutainment at it's filthiest. Ron doesn't fit most porn star stereotypes. No drinking. No drugs. Just lots of food and celebrity name dropping. We stayed for the Q&A session. I asked him some boring conversational question, just so I could say, "I talked to Ron Jeremy." We waited in line afterwards and me and the girl got a pic and an autograph with him.

That whole experience was just the oddest turn of events.

Saturday we went to the Old Town School of Folk Music to see The Handsome Family. They're superdark, with this black humor woven through their songs - songs of murder and suicide and desperate longing. They had fantastic beer choices - Rolling Rock (eew), Pabst Blue Ribbon, and Tecate (The PBR of Mexico). Clearly, there was only one choice for me. I drank Pabst Blue Ribbon. They had the most exquisite brownies I've ever enjoyed. It was an oddly beautiful, tranquil evening.

Sunday, we went to the Blackhawks vs. Kings match and sat in the luxury box. Thank you, Lehman Bros! Free beer, liquor, and tenderloin! Taquitos, shrimp, and weirdly flavored potato chips! The finest chocolate caramel apple I've ever had! I think the Hawks lost! It didn't matter! It was a fantastic time. I made nice with the girl's coworkers, and everyone was happy.

Went to her place that night, since my room in my apartment reeks of spilled wine and cigarettes from that sonofabitch Mike going on a mini bender. I find it unfortunate that he did not end up in prison. Fucker.

We got high and fell asleep watching "Fantasia". She'd never seen it. She'd also seen the fucking Star Wars trilogy! Just Star Wars. Not Empire. Not Jedi. I was shocked and dismayed. My world turned upside down. Black was white, white was black. It truly chilled my blood....

Then we watched them, and we're cool now.

I'm 26 in a week.

ILuvYou.
